Everything that’s happened up to then is referenced in this dungeon, and thinking back to those events is equally somber and comforting. Vivi’s Theme sets the table for an epic meal of music as soon as the opening credits end. As with many other fantasy RPGs, you are sent on a quest to help save/protect your home town, sent across the land. However, one thing that has stood the test of time is the absolutely incredible OST. The soundtrack is the best in the series, the story is excellently paced with plot twist and set pieces aplenty, the Materia system is fun to mess with, and there is just so much to do. It’s whimsical and upbeat while also invoking clumsiness and bewilderment, and it’s hard to describe Vivi in that first scene any better. There are completely fair reason to dislike Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, especially its most recent remaster. This is one of the first songs we hear after the game starts, and it’s a perfect encapsulation of the early themes of the game.
